Comprehension requires more than recognizing words.
The assessment measures how well students find information, connect ideas, interpret vocabulary, recognize structure, draw conclusions, and support answers with evidence.
Identify what a passage is mainly about and distinguish essential information from minor details.
Locate facts, examples, and sentences that support a conclusion or central idea.
Combine text clues with logical thinking to reach conclusions the author does not state directly.
Understand why a text was written, how it is organized, and how word choice shapes its tone.
